Welcome to the new matgurman.com website! It will be under construction for a while. My old matgurman.com site just vanished along with all custom artwork. My web designer is MIA so I have opted to manage the page myself for faster updates and posts. It is not as slick looking but has a distressed charm all it's own.
My heart felt thanks go out to my small band of loyal endorsers for their invaluable support and stellar products! I would like to introduce you to Stan Torgenson at TONEBIAS.COM who is building some of my favorite effect pedals including the Tonebias Compressor and custom TS9. My artist pages are up at D'addairo and Eminence and I can be contacted through the links on my homepages at at those sites. I would like to give a special thanks to Taylor Guitars who have rocked my world with the 412CE steel string and a 412CE-N Nylon that I am now using on sessions. The quality and intonation is just drop dead gorgous! If you have not checked these instruments out, you have not yet experienced what the benchmark for quality is! The intonation is like nothing human. Can you imagine playing in any position with PERFECT intonation? It is Freaky Deeky!
FINALLY!!!!! COMING TO AN IPOD NEAR YOU............
MAT GURMAN and CAPE CALLI
I have a new solo/band project called CAPE CALLI which fuses Cape Verde, Portuguese and West African and music with good ol' Urban pop, Jazz and Soul from the USA! It is Nylon driven and features some stellar musicians who are also dear friends: Wally Minko, Bob Conti, Gary Nuestruk, Jeff Stern, Lynn Woolever, MB Gordy, Bart Somalis and Bruce Stone. I am playing Nylon, Tennor Uke, Quatro, Banjo and percussion. I will have some roughs posted from one of our dinner hang jam sessions at my groovy mid century modern crib that has been featured on HGTV (kudos to my wife Kelli who is a swingin' gassy chick and tripple threat player in her own right). The comment that I hear first every time I play the roughs? First a long silence, then "WOW"! We did a holiday concert on John Wayne's Yacht "The Wild Goose" over the holidays which was very well received but barely publicized. It was a magical evening. So magical in fact that the board mix disappeared from the Wav recorder!
If you need to reach me while my website is under construction you can always reach me at: waybeat@sbcglobal.net or through the AFM local 47 directory.
As always, please spread love and respect animals :)
